Very simply, Zappawoo is aiming to achieve in the accessible travel market what lastminute.com has done in the mainstream travel market - revolutionise choice, ease of booking and last minute offers for a rapidly growing market segment that has so far not been served by the travel industry.
Broken leg? Wobbly walker? (a term coined by our Board member Simon Weston!) Partially sighted? Hard of hearing? People with access requirements find that booking a holiday that suits their needs - an accessible holiday - can be a complex and frustrating business.
Zappawoo is a booking platform that will bring together thousands of holiday and leisure options from both mainstream and specialist providers, each one with detailed information about its access.
For the first time those with mobility, hearing and visual impairments (and those who just simply need some additional reassurance) will be able to easily search and book product and take advantage of time limited offers.
The demand for accessible travel and leisure is increasing year on year as our population ages. There are 15 million aged over 60 in the UK, many of whom have the desire and money to travel (the Grey Pound). In addition there are 12 million people with a disability in the UK, all with varying mobility, hearing and visual needs, and who spend billions a year on travel (the Purple Pound).
